Dr. Mark J. Tager
MD

Mark J. Tager, MD is a physician, educator, and storyteller who works at the intersection of functional medicine, aesthetics, and integrative health. He is the producer, writer, and host of the Healing Journeys documentary series, a project that explores regenerative, inside-out approaches to conditions ranging from vagus nerve dysfunction to mold illness and hair loss. Dr. Tager is also the Co-Founder of the Vagus Nerve Society, an organization dedicated to advancing clinical understanding and practical application of vagal science to improve patient resilience, emotional regulation, and overall well-being.

A prolific author, Dr. Tager has written multiple books, most recently Integrative Aesthetics: Your Roadmap to Practice Success and Feed Your Skin Right, both of which highlight his core message: the skin is a mirror of internal physiology, and true transformation begins from within. Known for his engaging teaching style and his ability to translate complex science into actionable clinical strategies, he lectures widely on the gut–brain–skin axis, vagus nerve modulation, metabolic health, and the integration of inside-out and outside-in therapies. Dr. Tager received his medical degree from Duke University and trained in Family Medicine at the University of Oregon Health Sciences Center. He lives outside San Diego where he grows impressive tomatoes.
